The Prose Edda was written by Snorri Sturluson. It is composed of the prologue and the Gylfaginning, or the Tricking of Gylfi (c. 20,000 words), which deals with Norse gods and the creation and destruction of the world. It also contains the Skáldskaparmál and the Háttatal.
